Hello
I'm new to this and would love to discuss and get some pointers here, what should be included in a project closure report, and how should a project be evaluated after it being finished, what should be included, any good tips for a template?

A project closure report is a document that summarizes the results and final output of a project. It could include different items depending on the nature of the project but in general it should include:

1) Summary of all results.

2) Lesson learned, and recommendations for improving upon future projects.

3) Teams accomplishments.

Depending on the type of the project, there are many KPIs against which you evaluate the project success. Some of those are:

1) Cost vs Budget
2) Finish time vs schedule
3) Client Satisfaction
4) Safety Record
5) Quality

Dear Rami
The KPIs you listed are all important factors to consider when evaluating project success. Thank you for sharing this information.
In addition to those KPIs and to complete this conversation, kindly let me mention other potential factors to consider when evaluating project success such as
Scope: Did the project deliver all of the required scope, or were there any scope changes that impacted the project outcomes?
Stakeholder Engagement: Were stakeholders engaged throughout the project, and were their needs and expectations met?
Risk Management: How effectively were project risks identified, assessed, and managed?
Team Performance: How well did the project team work together, and what were the key factors that contributed to the team's success or challenges?
Sustainability: Were environmental, social, and economic sustainability factors considered and incorporated into the project design and delivery?

As Rami said: A project closure report is a document that outlines the results and final outcomes of a project.
When creating a template for your project closure report, it's important to consider the specific needs of your project and your organization. However, here is a general outline that you could use:
• Executive Summary
• Project Overview
• Project Goals and Objectives
• Project Scope
• Project Deliverables
• Project Schedule
• Project Budget
• Project Performance
• Lessons Learned
• Recommendations
• Conclusion

Thanks - Those are also valid KPIs as well and there can be much more. It all depends on the project, the objectives, the defined metrics and KPIs at the outset of the project.

Maria -

It always comes back to the needs of your stakeholders and any existing organization standards - context counts.

The purpose of the report is to reflect formal administrative closure on your project.

Anything beyond that is driven by the needs I've listed above.

Nice question !! I encourage you to look at the webinars section of project management.com. there are some prerecorded videos on the project of project closure. Also the templates section of project management.com has templates for project closure reports. Hope this is a help!
