I am interested in a methodology to lead a group of 10 people that need to work as a part of a team but in an heterogenous way.
We have been thinking about applying agile methodologies, since research is unestable and has uncertainty by its nature. However, there are too much things that are difficult to apply directly from agile methods (such as SCRUM) in this context.
We are evaluating alternatives, but it is a really complex staff.
Any help, please? Saving Changes...

Noemi,
think you have a wonderful opportunity to form a productive, innovative and satisfying team. And learn a lot.
It is not so much about about methodology and ways of working, as it is about (your leadership) and team building (what PMI re-labeled power skills).
A leader's core abilities are to
1. provide vision
2. initiate action
3. get results
Beyond that, your role is to engage with everyone, understand their strengths, needs and also dislikes. Then to use team building to make them collaborate. Make them know each other, you can use personality style analysis (like HUMM, DISC, BigFive, SDI) to find opposites and strengths. I sometimes build pairs out of opposites styles.
And then let them set team rules, jointly define team name, mascot, logo etc..
Start by profiling the project context to determine whether a mostly predictive, adaptive or hybrid approach makes sense. Then work with the team to figure out a starting set of practices supporting that approach and regularly inspect & adapt.

It is essential to understand the unique needs and characteristics of your team and project context to determine the most suitable method for your situation. You can also consider combining different methods to create a customized approach that fits your team's needs.
I think you know Agile practices, and I briefly introduce some other methods that might work for managing your project:
Lean Six Sigma: Lean Six Sigma combines the principles of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to eliminate waste, reduce defects, and improve efficiency
Design Thinking: Design Thinking is a human-centered approach to problem-solving that emphasizes empathy, ideation, prototyping, and testing. This method can be effective in fostering creativity and innovation among team members.
Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM): CCPM is a project management method that focuses on managing the constraints of a project. This method can be effective in managing a diverse team when the project has limited resources or is facing time constraints. Saving Changes...

Instead of Scrum you can apply Kaban. Kanban is oriented to flow instead of batch or iterations. In my last job we apply Scrum for this type of initiatiatives. Saving Changes...
Hi again. I really appreciate your pieces of advice. When we are working in specific projects, we usually apply scrum and/or Kanban. The other methodologies are also welcome.
However, this is more a team management problem and maybe Thomas Wallenta gave me the most useful answer. We will try it and we will see how it works. In any case, I'm taking notes from everything.

Do not forget the goal or vision.
Heterogenous people or group may have different ideas. Get them to decide and come to an agreement. (Agile philosophy).
Research also shows diverse set of thinking and healthy arguments within a team brings the best in you.
Act as a facilitator or a mediator and help the team achieve the GOAL.
Also, sometimes things will be fuzzy and you may not have concrete answers, connect the dots and bring all the functional heads (verticals) to the same page.
Hope this helps. Saving Changes...
