Alexandru -
Most certifications prove you understanding of concepts, not your ability to effectively apply those in the real world. Someone might understand the theory of overcoming virtual team challenges but be ineffective at implementing strategies to do so. Sufficient broad & deep experience eats certifications for breakfast... Kiron
I worked with virtual distributed multi-cultural, multi-countries teams from more than 30 years ago. Experience could be a must. Certifications, in my personal opinion, and not because this topic only, did not help no matter and I have owned them just for "business" proposes. I like very much phrase above from @Kiron: "sufficient board and deep experience eats certification for breakfast". Adding to add, and perhaps is a matter of experience, your style will do the difference. When you work remotely project/program manager weaknesses are putting on evidence, emerge.
I agree with Kiron.
