What are your best practices to promote a culture of ethics in a project environment and instill the notion of ethical behaviours in a project team (based on past experience and lessons learnt) that you can share?

Fostering a culture of ethics and supporting ethical behaviors is crucial for project managers to ensure that projects are conducted with integrity and accountability. Here are some ways project managers can promote an ethical culture within their teams:

Establish a clear code of ethics,
Promote open communication,
Provide ethics training,
Incorporate ethics into project processes,
Encourage ethical discussions,
Recognize and reward ethical behavior,
Address unethical behavior promptly,
Seek guidance from organizational policies,
Encourage reporting of ethical concerns
By implementing these practices, project managers can create a culture of ethics that promotes trust, integrity, and responsible behavior within their teams and throughout the project lifecycle.

Dear colleagues, thank you for all your collective advice and guidance as elaborated above. Excellent nuggets of wisdom for me (and fellow PMs/managers) to assess, reflect, and seek improvement where needed.

Thanks for the discussion. I think we need to
1. model the role ourselves
2. have a education/chat session with project team on ethical practices to see if they are clear on the concepts and allow them a platform to ask questions
3. regular communication on ethical practices and deviations if any with the project team
4. buy in from the leadership and sponsor setting the right ground rules

Thx
