Good question indeed. I am managing programs and project from more than 30 years ago in different domains, different countries. What I see is we still talking about the same problems, including it "the tons" of analysis you will find in "tons" of papers. For me is simple: is the same than in the personal life when each of us started some initiative that we can call "project" and we need to interact with other people, to get some money but mainly to get time and engagement.

Post COVID, we are facing lots of supply chain and trades shortage issues. We are establishing plans to mitigate these situations as they occur.

In most of the companies I worked for or consulted with, the biggest challenge related to too much concurrent work in the "system" relative to the organization's capability to deliver.

Adela,

its a wide field of potential challenges. I would focus on the people part and the challenge is then how much projects can be standardised, automated and seen as mechanistic systems. No, even with the same type of project, you have different clients, team and sponsors and those have different expectations, background and challenges themselves.

A long list of projects and a lack of resources are two main challenges.
