Client Evaluation

My clients regularly evaluate my performance as an external services vendor on a quarterly basis. During my last quarterly meeting my client has asked me to evaluate them as a client. Has anyone come across this situation? If so any feedback? General questions? This question unfortunately was more difficult than I expected.

Well done! your client values your input it is a partnership a two way process that should equate Best Business practice. It is about business process and communication ongoing improvement that meets both the service provider and clients needs. My assumption is that your client is seeking an evalution on how they are seen by others in a professional capacity 'how well are they doing!' with external organisations how are they as a company being perceived. Your feedback should be based on their performance, including whether their process is working, what could add value to enhance your business relationship including communication. Lets put it this way, when your client provides a performance evaluation for your services provided to them what are the basis of that evaluation, are you fulfilling the service standards agreed! are you competitive and value for money! are you professional, proactive, do you resolve issues to the satisfaction of your clients expectations... you could mostly reverse criteria used to conduct your clients performance with any recommendations you may want to put forward.

You are welcome, hope it was usual to you! as with my past experience with contracts management, it is a two way process as I mentioned.. it is about you as the service provider retaining that contract to be renewed by your clients for years to come. By now you have an honest open relationship that counts far more than a performance review, your client did not have to ask for your input they trust you to provide a professional honest feedback. Say to them you are delighted that they gave you the opportunity and I would also ask them how are they going to process the feedback you have given them! Regards

Agree with Vasoula. There are two ways to evaluate the client:
- look at the processes/SLA's agreed between you and the customer and turn them around. In that way you evaluate the customer what seems to be important for him since he is evaluating on those grounds

- look at what is important for you and write down where you thin k he is doing well and where improvement can be expected

As mentioned thank him for the opportunity to establish an open relation and true partnership

Hopes this helps
