I have been given the opportunity to put together a 1 hour long presentation to our technical teams on the basics of being on a project.
I have been brain storming on what topics I want to cover in just an hour. I am mindful of not overwhelming them, but rather help them understand some basic terminology.
Some thoughts include brief review of terminology like durantion vs work effort, how MS Project accounts for their limited availability to one particular project due to operations work or multiple projects etc.
I know I want the tone to be fun and not lose them in too much detail.
How anyone given a similar presentation and do you have suggestions on topics or ideas on delivering the material in a meaningful manner?
All ideas would be appreciated.

Interesting question. For me the starting point would be what is my objective of that meeting and what are their expectations. Based on that I would pick the topics. In general if this is a kick off meeting for the project I would include things like:
- what is the desired outcome of the project (client expectation)
- who are on the project and how will the project be organised (governance)
- what is the project timeline to deliver
MS Project is a tool and I would not discuss the ins and outs of a tool. However may be I misunderstand your question completely. Is the presentation generic with no project attached or as a kick off for a project.
