Reasonable amount of PM hours for small software project?

So I'm in a software project that needs a Proof of concept fairly soon. As my formal PM skills are growing it takes me longer to write the documents, make the decisions, etc. I'm willing to bill fewer hours since I'm gaining great experience along the way, but I don't know what is a "reasonable" percentage of hours for the project management overhead. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Hey Michael!

I hear where you are coming from and that's one of the things I'm refining. Most of my work life has been with large enterprises that have lots of PMs doing lots of paperwork. As I branch out into smaller project teams I'd like to see what the community sees as normal and make sure that I'm very critically evaluating anything close to that. Otherwise I'm spending time guessing how much time I should spend.

This question won't be as relevant to me once I have more small project team experience under my belt. Until that time, though, I'm trying to learn well.
