is it possible or feasible to track a single project in more than one portfolio?

We were having a discussion about how to configure an organization with multiple portfolios. Some one raised the use case of a project split between multiple portfolios. Has any one come across this scenario, and if so what is best practice?

Yes, it's possible to track a single project in multiple portfolios. However, do your PM tool allow it? Why you want to do it? Where are you tracking budgets at project, program or portfolio...?

In summary, you can do it, however based on my experience I would not recommend.
