Hello everyone,
I’m Sayanta from Bengaluru, India. I work in the technology space and am on a continuous learning journey in the field of project management. I enjoy understanding how people, ideas, and plans come together, and how collaboration and structure support meaningful outcomes.
Outside of work, I like to keep a balance between being active, creative, and exploring new places. I enjoy playing football and cricket, which I find refreshing and energizing. I also like cooking and trying out new recipes, and I find it a relaxing way to spend time and unwind.
Travel is something I truly love. Exploring new cities, experiencing different cultures, and meeting new people gives me a sense of excitement and curiosity. I enjoy observing everyday life in different places and collecting small experiences along the way.
I also have a love for the arts and music, which bring calm and rhythm into my routine.
I’m happy to be part of the PMI community and look forward to connecting, learning, and sharing experiences with all of you.
Welcome to PMI's online community, Sayanta! We're so glad to have you here and look forward to learning from you as well. Saving Changes...

Mentoring Specialist III| PMIPhiladelphia, PA, United States
Hi everyone!
-My name is Amal Giknis, and I am on the Student Engagement & Mentoring team supporting mentorship opportunities at PMI.
-Growing up, I wanted to read books and help people learn — and I did it! I am forever grateful to have started my career as a high school English teacher.
-My favorite project management tool is tried and true: an old-fashioned paper notebook. I am constantly recording and restructuring my thoughts on paper.
-As a former educator, I’m drawn to project management for the ways it brings to life the best practices of teaching and learning: it’s fundamentally about approaching real-world challenges with authentic inquiry, critical thinking, and continuous reflection. The work can be really transformative when we measure success to include process: What growth and insights developed along the way? How did our team’s diverse perspectives impact outcomes? How can we reassess to think about this differently now and in the future? These reflective practices are intentional in project management and ground the work in a way that is purposeful and energizing to me.
-Something I’m proud of is my role as a mentor and coach throughout my career, whether with students in my classes, athletes on the team, or early-stage professionals navigating their own career paths. Knowing how important the mentors in my own life have been for me, I deeply value and always seek ways to strengthen these connections with others. This makes it a true privilege to support mentoring in my role at PMI and to see these relationships elevate the work and experiences of the community. Saving Changes...
Hello everyone! My name is Lydia, and I currently work as an Administrative Coordinator while also running my own creative and systems-focused businesses in multimedia and digital operations. I’m excited to officially join this community and begin engaging more intentionally within PMI.
When I was growing up, I wanted to major in computer science. I just connected with computers and application systems in a way I didn't expect 😄 — but at the core, I’ve always been drawn to roles where I could organize chaos, bring ideas to life, and help people move from vision to execution. Looking back, project management feels like a very natural evolution of that instinct.
I currently work with and have worked with project management tools like Smartsheet, Asana, Slack, Basecamp, and I’m especially interested in continuing to grow in:
Zoho
Clickup
Enterprise project management tools
Process mapping & systems design
Change management and cross-functional collaboration
What drew me to project management: I’ve spent over 10 years supporting executives, coordinating projects, managing timelines, and bridging communication across teams — often without the formal PM title. Discovering PMI felt like finally finding the professional language and framework that matched the work I’ve already been doing. What’s keeping me here is the depth of knowledge, structure, and community.
Certifications & goals: My immediate goal is to earn my CAPM, with a clear path toward my PMP as I continue building experience and credentials. I’m very interested in learning from professionals who’ve navigated this journey already and are open to sharing insights, lessons learned, and best practices.
Proudest accomplishment: Professionally, I’m proud of building and sustaining multiple businesses while working full-time — particularly in areas that blend project management, information systems, and creative strategy. Personally, I’m proud of committing to continuous learning and choosing growth even when the path isn’t linear.
A few fun facts: Outside of work, I love photography, visual storytelling, systems optimization, and finding better ways for people and processes to work together. I’m really looking forward to connecting, learning from this community, and contributing wherever I can. If you’ve earned your CAPM or PMP — or are currently on that path — I’d love to hear what helped you most starting out. Looking forward to learning with you all!

I'm Warren Carter and I've had my PMP since August, 2017. I had taken some Project Management classes as part of my Business Management degree in the 2006-2009 timeframe and became interested, back then, in possibly pursuing a PM career. In fact, in my Senior year I remember the classic ask of most professors to students at that stage, which was to write an essay about what you wanted to do for a career after graduation. I wrote mine on wanting to be a PM, and I specifically remember stating that I disliked the monotony of a role that does the same thing every day and how perhaps I could escape that with a project management career which would spice things up by having to manage a variety of different projects over time. Now, normally I just fly by the seat of my pants, and that's largely what I did in my post-college career, taking what I could get job-wise and learning all I could at each employer - doing the best I could and upgrading when/where possible. In late 2014 I landed what I thought was a promising job as an Inside Technical Sales Engineer at a firm that produced automation equipment. That particular workplace was very toxic, and it took me about 2 years to realize I had to get out ASAP, as I noticed that I was becoming a negative person because of it. I enrolled in Project Management classes at the community college and got the needed classroom hours to sit the exam. The classes were taught by Andy Kaufman, who is somewhat of a legend in the PM space. I was lucky to have had him as an instructor, and long story short: I quit my job and dedicated all my time to studying for the PMP exam - which I passed! It was a major risk to quit my job with nothing lined up, but it worked out. This opened up a new life for me as a Software Implementation PM, a role I held onto for 7+ years and even was promoted to Senior PM, a first for that company.
TLDR Version: Project Management saved me. It saved me from a lower paying, way less happy career that inhibited my professional growth and cut short my potential. I'm very happy to be where I'm at and proud of how hard I worked to get here. I will NEVER let that PMP lapse by not doing my PDUs and am gearing up for my 3rd renewal. If anyone reading this is on the fence about getting certified, DO IT. It just might change your life in ways you can't even imagine.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!
