1. What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I've always been drawn to helping others, which led me to explore various careers throughout my life. I've been a mother, photographer, social worker, advocate, translator, and even run my own business. This versatility has given me a unique perspective and a wealth of transferable skills.
2. What are your favorite project management tools and technologies? Or ones that you’d like to learn more about?
Currently, my role involves exploring new project management tools to find the best fit for our team. I've been experimenting with Trello and Asana, and I'm particularly interested in their collaborative features. Additionally, I'm fascinated by the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in project management, especially for streamlining tasks and improving efficiency.
3. What drew you to the project management industry?
A family friend who saw my organizational skills and encouraged me to pursue project management. It turns out, they were right! I thrive in the fast-paced environment and find immense satisfaction in seeing a project come together successfully. Who doesn't love the feeling of accomplishment after working hard to achieve a goal?
4. What's your proudest accomplishment (personal or professional)?
Personally, my proudest accomplishment is raising two incredible children who are kind and empathetic. Witnessing them grow into responsible adults who make a positive impact fills me with joy. Professionally, I'm most proud of the positive impact I've had on people's lives. In my previous roles, I helped rescue women from human trafficking. I've also spent years helping families whose children receive an autism diagnosis. For me, the goal of any job is supporting the people in it.

Melinda LeeComputer Systems Manager| City of New YorkWest Islip, Ny, United States
Hello!
My name is Melinda and I am a Computer Systems Manager in Public Services. I also volunteer my time as a Strategy Director with a non-profit dedicated to offering animal behavior education.
Growing up I wanted to be a flight attendant to travel the world. But, the universities offering education travel & tourism were out of reach so I opted for a degree in Business Administration with a focus in Management Information Systems. One of my favorite things about Project Management is the tools and techniques can be applied not just in the workplace but in our personal lives. While much of the PM resources are from the private sector perspective, the lessons to be learned certainly can be applied and benefited in the non-profit sector. I'm excited that Project Management can be of value to the animal behavior and training profession.
I'm not sure if I am ready to state my proudest accomplishment. I feel like there is still so much I have to do. This makes me excited for what is to come.
