I am an engineer and retired General Manger in ECL, a subsidiary of Coal India. My father was an engineer and I wanted to be also engineer. I competed in the only IIT in India in and chose mining engineering. After joining service, I was posted in very large innovative projects and my favourite tools are MS-Project, Prism, and other software. I was doing PhD on project management at ISM, Dhanbad and BESU, Shibpur. Now, after retirement I am Director, as shown and I am interested in Agile and other developments.
Hi Binay, what an amazing career! The PMI Community is lucky to have you and to learn from your experience and expertise! I look forward to seeing you around the community.

Hello everyone, I’m Joe, an architect with 15 years experience of turning ideas into sketches, sketches into detailed drawings, and the drawings into buildings and spaces that can be felt and experienced by users. I am a Kenya, born and educated, but spent most of my professional life in Rwanda, driving projects from design to construction.
As a kid, I was more drawn to the performing arts, i.e. music and theatre, but that was not considered a viable career choice where I am from. I first encountered technical drawing and design in high school, and that is where I immediately decided that architecture was going to be my life.
As an architect, you often find yourself being a project manager by default, since you are leading project from the design stage, all the way to construction supervision. That is a position I excelled and thrived in for so many years, managing very successful projects in Rwanda, Uganda, D.R. Congo and Kenya. What I lacked was a standardised way of managing projects, and that is where I turned to PMI. PMP has given me the structure and tools to execute and manage projects more efficiently, and I cant wait to reap the benefits.
My proudest accomplishment is my contribution to the Kigali skyline, and the continuous rapid development of infrastructure in Rwanda.
Hi Joe, welcome! Thank you for sharing how PMI & the PMP has helped you in your career journey; we’re so glad to have you as part of the PMI community!

I was never a very good performer or singer, but I have always loved the theatre, especially musicals. 😊 Nothing beats a live performance!

Hello everyone!
I'm Michel Okan, currently working as a Technical Advisor in strategic planning, governance, and project management. I specialize in sectors like socio-economic development, governance, digital transformation, conflict Resolution and peacebuilding and capacity building, primarily in West Africa (Benin, Mali) and beyond.
Growing up, I always wanted to be an economist or development expert. I had a strong passion for understanding how effective management, strategic planning, and thoughtful leadership can transform communities.
I regularly use tools like Excel, and I’m also interested in mastering advanced project management platforms such as Jira and Asana, along with data analysis tools such as Power BI.
What drew me to project management is its transformative potential. It provides a structured approach to making meaningful changes and achieving concrete results. Seeing real impacts from well-managed projects is what keeps me motivated and dedicated to this industry.
My proudest accomplishment professionally has been leading and coordinating impactful projects related to democracy, governance, peacebuilding, conflict prevention, youth and economic empowerment, strategic partnerships and resource mobilization, and digital transformation in Africa, including the successful implementation of strategic development plans that have significantly improved communities' quality of life.
I’m delighted to join this dynamic community, eager to connect, exchange experiences, and learn from each of you!

Best regards,
Michel

Anushka Dewansingh Procurement Specialist| Independent Consultant Wanica, Suriname
Hello everyone,

I'm Anushka, an individual consultant working as a procurement specialist within international funded projects in Suriname (country in South America). I have a background in Engineering and find that to be a good foundation. I'm PMP certified from 2020 on, project management tools helps me with the daily activities in my current role as procurement specialist.
Funny thing is that I wanted to become a heart surgeon when growing up. However, during my college years, architecture and engineering caught my attention.

For me, project management has helped me to organize and think about all processes in its whole. My goal is to further develop my procurement skills as well as project management because for me these two go hand in hand. A perfect combination to apply in projects.

William Meller IT Project, Program & Portfolio Manager| Polestar Gothenburg, Sweden
Hello! My name is William Meller!

I am a passionate IT Project & Portfolio Manager experienced in coaching Agile teams. A passionate tech leader with an MBA in Business Management and certified in Strategy Execution by Harvard Business School.

I have been volunteering for a long time and had the chance to fulfil my passion of helping people through project management. But when I was a kid, I dreamed about being a soccer player actually following my Brazilian neighbours.

My favourite tools/techniques are definitely the agile ways of work and, maybe because I have been working with IT for around 15 years, I know how important it is to always consider people (not resources) before any tool or technique.

I am proud of being recognized by PMI Future50 Leader List for my leadership and ability to inspire people around the world, once I have been creating a lot of content online.
