Hello, PMI Community!

My name is Marek, and I am currently a Project Analyst specializing in civil and geotechnical engineering with Inline Group Inc. in Acheson, Alberta. It’s a pleasure to connect with fellow project management professionals here!

Growing up, I dreamed of being an engineer, inspired by the intricate designs of structures and the technology behind construction. My passion for building and creating has guided my educational and professional journey, shaping who I am today.

In terms of project management tools, I have extensive experience with AutoCAD, CIVIL 3D, and various GIS technologies. I also enjoy using Microsoft Office for project documentation and communication. I am always eager to learn more about advanced project management software, particularly those integrating AI and data analytics for project forecasting and decision-making.

Likewise, I was drawn to the project management field because it allows me to merge my technical background in engineering with my passion for strategic planning and teamwork. The challenges of optimizing project workflows and ensuring their successful completion have kept me engaged and motivated.

One of my proudest accomplishments was receiving the Dean’s Commendation for my high academic standing while completing my diplomas in Civil Engineering Technology and Engineering Design. This acknowledgment affirmed my hard work and commitment, inspiring me to continue striving for excellence in my career.

I’m excited to engage with all of you, share experiences, and learn from one another. Let’s connect and exchange ideas on managing projects effectively!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Welcome, Marek!

Hi everyone,

My name is Ahmad Abu Ayyash, and I’m currently a Software Development Manager and Technical Delivery Manager with over 15 years of experience in the technology and project management industry. I specialize in managing cross-functional teams, driving innovation, and delivering Oracle-based enterprise solutions and microservice architectures.

When I was growing up, I wanted to be a cook chef, inspired by my love for creating and experimenting with flavors. While life took me on a different path, that creativity and attention to detail continue to shape my work today.

My passion has always been in the technical domain, which has kept me actively engaged in technical roles throughout my career. However, with the evolution of AI and Blockchain technologies, I’ve been inspired to shift gears and focus more on strategy, innovation, and fostering human creativity in the projects I lead.

My favorite project management tools include Jira, Microsoft Project, and Trello for task management, and Confluence for collaboration. I'm also exploring Smartsheet and would love to deepen my knowledge in Agile and hybrid methodologies.

What drew me to the project management industry was the opportunity to solve problems, organize chaos into clarity, and deliver impactful results. What keeps me in it is the constant challenge of working with talented people and crafting solutions that drive businesses forward.

One of my proudest accomplishments is leading the successful implementation of a large-scale CRS (Common Reporting Standard) project, which improved compliance and transparency for financial institutions, creating a significant impact in ensuring global tax transparency.

I’m looking forward to learning from this community, sharing experiences, and building connections!

Best regards,
Ahmad

Hi all, I'm Tom, a Lead Consultant, and SAFe SPC, Agile guy with about 30 years in tech, starting with an ill-concieved dream of Corporate Communications Multimedia in 1989 when there was no Internet to speak-of. After a few years working in Computer Sales (Computerland), Technology Graphic Design (WEKA), 3rd shift (Quark/Illustrator) Pre-press, etc.

My wish was granted with a call from a leader in early Web Site Development, who found my digital portfolio on Macromedia's Flash Web site, and called me into service in Pre-Silicon Alley in NYC (JP Morgan, Dime, NatWest, Guardian, AIG). From there, it was Web Design, Project Management, UX, Human Factors, Wide Area Networking Instructor, Web Master, Deeper and Broader across the Spectrum of Technology, User Research and Web Development, from exam author/cleaner for Brainbench... Human Factors Research and Solution Desginer for U.S. Navy Submarine fleet sub-contractor, css guy for major auto e-tailer (hell on wheels😂 ).

About 6 years ago, I joined Infosys, and was shipped off to CVS Healthcare/Aetna as a Business Analyst, because I didn't want to work in Java, and they had no UX roles at the time in my division, I was on the brink of failing miserably as instead of taking notes and scheduling meetings, I was involved in design and functional debates more often than not, much to the frowning of the career BAs on staff... But apparently to the delight of the managers at CVS Aetna. As I was moved to various projects in the CLN (Change Leader Network, and Design Thinking Group), to ideate and create media solutions for spreading tribal knowledge for Agile and Design Thinking concepts. It was there that I found my years as a team member in Agile Teams, working as a Business Owner, UX researcher, Design Lead, and ironically as a Class C Certified USA Cycling Coach, had given me skills to easily write high level plans, develop contingencies, and collaborate with a broad range of individuals. Recognizing this, my CVS Health manager put me into an Aetna Agile PO/PM training, (even though I was from Infosys), and I began working on management guidance videos and posters with Management, Agile Coaches, Architects, and other leadership from CVS Health.

Next during Covid: 2 years SAFe SPC coaching at Verizon, again for Infosys, 3-5 Programs at once.

Most recently, thrown into the Consulting and leadership management fire, successfully leading a digital transformation for a major global digital client.

Past few months I've on the bench, but internally running 6 SAFe certification trainings for about 200 staff to become Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and SP Certified. I'm using my limited time to fill the PMP blank as well, before the next deployment.

I hope to use my (eventual) PMP certification to help others translate traditional PM ideas they've had success with in the past, bridge to newer frameworks and Agile processes, which I've lived for the past 15 years. (Hint: there is a lot of overlap, I see from the PMI curriculum, but the key is to want to change your mindset). I think the term "frozen middle" is somewhat dated, but it is a concept that is still alive and kicking. It is a challenge that all new PMPs and Agilists will be faced with as we come out armed with modern ways of working. It appears to me to be the biggest barrier to growth, when you get a few like-minded managers in key roles on either (or both) side of vendor and client. I think a good addition to PMI going forward would be strategies to help them, or clients identify these conditions as risks.

Anyhoo that's me. My biggest challenge is writing briefly. If you made it this far, Thanks all for including 😜
