Hi all, I'm joining this community as a longtime project manager in healthcare provider organizations, but only now formalizing this through PMP certification. I am currently studying to take the exam. I just wrapped by biggest PM project so far - the implementation the Epic EHR system for a large medical practice. I really enjoyed that experience and am hoping to have similar opportunities in the future. I'm interested in learning from everyone in this community, but particularly interested in connect with fellow PMs in the healthcare space on the unique factors in our industry.

Current role: Director of Quality and Compliance at a multi-site Federally Qualified Health Center in the USA.
What I wanted to be when I grew up: doctor or nurse (so I didn't land far off!)
Hello Erin, welcome to PMI's online community! Wishing you all the best as you study for the PMP exam.

DANIEL AVELAR Y GOMEZ Manager - Manufacturing Tecnology and Industrialization| FRESENIUS MEDICAL CARE NORTH AMERICA GUADALAJARA, JAL, Mexico
Hello. This is Daniel Avelar, from Mexico. I'm currently managing the Industrialization Department for Fresenius Medical Care in LATAM with the main current task of looking for better automation technologies in the manufacturing sites.
I'm a Chemical engineer which is my passion since I was a child, everything related with science and technology related with health has been of my interest for a long time.
Right now I'm looking for tools, learning options and information related with AI, I'm sure in the short term it will become a must in our daily activities, not only as project managers but in our different industries.
I enjoy working on projects, knowing that we can make a difference by implementing new options to let our company grow and making sure we can get the knowledge on each portion of a manufacturing process, this is why I became a certified Project Manager; and I'm really proud to say that so far I have been able to open four manufacturing lines to produce new products leading working with great project teams.
Personally, I'm proud to say also that I'm a passionate Open water swimmer, I guess the skills required to be a PMP have also helped me to swim long distances in the ocean, and it feels just great.
I'm looking forward to meet great people as well.

Daniel Shirley Tampa, Florida, United States

Hi everyone, I've been managing projects for the last decade or so as a Senior Director of Customer Success at a medium-sized digital signage company here in Tampa, FL. I've been thinking about making it official by getting my PMP for a while, and after experiencing a layoff last month, I figure there's no better time to pull the trigger, so I'm here.

I'm interested in making connections, learning best practices for prepping for the PMP exam, and getting to know some experienced project managers.

Joseph Marino Orlando, FL, United States

Hey everyone!

My name is Joseph Marino, and I co-founded a Management Consulting firm with a partner in July 2024, where I serve as the Director of Operations. Growing up, I aspired to be a Physical Therapist and pursued Exercise Physiology at FSU. My career path led me to the fitness industry, which became my training ground for developing soft skills and people management. Working in fitness exposed me to every personality type imaginable—truly, every kind! As I advanced into management and leadership roles, I found myself increasingly drawn to the business side and behind-the-scenes work that drives organizational growth. This journey naturally led me to pursue my PMP certification (still studying!).

For project management, I rely heavily on Linear and Notion. These powerful tools house my entire business operations and strike the perfect balance between keeping me organized and allowing for creativity.

My proudest professional achievement has been launching my business and witnessing its growth firsthand!

I'd love to connect with fellow professionals willing to discuss approaches to writing Project Proposals. We've been refining our process over the months and have made significant improvements, but I know there's always room to enhance our efficiency and effectiveness.

Let's connect! If you're in Orlando, FL, I'd be delighted to meet for coffee on me!
