Ehanthalingam Gopaul Senior Principal Consultant| Redplanet Solutions Sdn Bhd Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Hello All,
I am Ehanthalingam, you can call me as Ehanth. I am an Indian national working in Malaysia for the past 10 years.
I am working as a Senior Principal Consultant in RedPlanet solutions Malaysia. I have a Bachelor of Engineering in Geoinformatics and working in GIS domain specializing in Utility GIS for the last 20 years.
I am proud to be in the same field that I studied in my college.
My role focuses on providing solutions related to GIS business requirements, arriving on business process based on As-Is and To-Be, preparing roadmap, delivering client presentations and mentoring the team.
While working on few projects, I did PM related tasks like preparing the project plan, resources plan, proposing rollout strategy and change management activities in smooth transition to automated processes.
Often I used to prepare technical compliance response, prepare project proposals (with items of project charter) for RFP / RFQ and do budgetary estimates, arriving on risks involved & handling them.
My employer asked me to do PMP and I registered for it. While doing the classes, I realized that I have been doing the tasks related to PM though my role was to be more of a Subject matter expert.
While my PMP exam is about 3 months, I realized I am running out of time and started working on it everyday. The day I took the exam, wherein my results were not announced and instead a message was given that the result will be available in 1 week. But then the next day I got an email from PMP saying I cleared my exams touching the Above Target line which i feel as my proudest accomplishment.
Though I have been doing PM related tasks, I feel I should develop more on handling the PM tools and hence I am here to gather help from other experienced people in PM
Thanks,
Ehanth

Good morning, I will keep this introduction brief. My name is Carlton, and I am a retired Coast Guard veteran currently pursuing a degree in project management. This career field closely mirrors my active-duty experience, and I embraced the challenges of management early in my career. The military places you in a sink-or-swim moment, forcing you to decide whether to excel in the face of adversity or step aside for someone else to lead.

I have always strived to succeed and provide the ultimate customer service, which allowed me to establish a reputation for finding ways to meet every task or goal throughout my twenty-year career. As part of my VA program acceptance, I am reaching out to professionals in the field of project management to understand what it takes to be successful in the civilian world. If you have time to read this post, I would greatly appreciate it if you could share the challenges you faced during your education, as well as your experiences competing for positions and the day-to-day life of a project manager.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Welcome to the team carlton marshall .

From my over 15 years in project management, the daily life of a project manager is to manage other people's emotion through deliverables of their projects. It is about making varying priorities and competing demands of stakeholders, work. In addition, it is more of envisaging "one big outcome" by coordinating many pieces from the beginning.

Hey y'all,
I'm Gwen, and right now I'm a freelance technical/proposal/grant writer. I'm studying for the PMP certification. I'm looking to move to Charlotte, NC in the next year, so if anyone from that area wants to connect, I'm down for a meet and greet.

When I was a kid I wanted to be either a writer or Xena: Warrior Princess.

I've used kanban boards a couple of times and found them pretty user friendly and good for keeping everything organized. My favorite PM tool though, is just getting everybody in the room together and figuring out what they want to do and how I can help them. A well-run meeting can generate a lot of energy and cool ideas.

I got into project management when I was a grant writer for a local college. After the grants were won, a lot of the project management stuff fell on me. I liked working with stakeholders, communicating with sponsors, and fixing whatever challenges popped up on a particular day. I like working on cool stuff and I like working with people.

My proudest achievement would be when I wrote a grant proposal that didn't get funded. When we didn't get the grant, the VP of Academic Affairs passed my proposal up the chain of command to the State Senate, and used it to get funding for the project. I thought that was pretty cool.
Hello Gwen, welcome to PMI's online community!

Wishing you all the best on your PMP journey!

Kristi Cummings Portfolio Manager| TeamHealth Dandridge, Tn, United States
Hi, friends! Kristi Cummings here, project portfolio manager in the United States healthcare industry. In addition to project management, I have over 20 years of experience as a business analyst. I hold both PMP and CBAP credentials.
Growing up, I wanted to be a chemist, an aeronautical engineer, or maybe both as a materials scientist.
My favorite PM technique is transparency. When people have access to the knowledge and information they need, everything just works better.
I started managing projects when I was a US Air Force officer. I often worked on event planning teams, project teams, tiger teams, and other temporary efforts that leveraged my organizational and communication skills. I spent some of my years in the acquisition workforce, which also introduced me to formal project and program management.
My proudest accomplishment is graduating from the US Air Force Academy, but that bachelor's degree is now 29 years old. Next, I'd like to (finally!) earn a master's degree.

Eileen Mace Project Manager, Mr| Capital One Aldie, Va, United States

Greetings! I am Eileen Mace and am a Project Manager in the Retail Bank at Capital One. I have the best role as I execute projects while also being in a PMO where I set standards and coach/mentor other Project Managers. My projects are a blend of IT and business, which allows me to learn something new every day.

Growing up I was interested in becoming a Doctor, and even started my college career majoring in Athletic Training. In the back of my mind I knew I was more business savvy, and quickly learned that my love of sports and science was a hobby, not my passion.

My favorite PM tools are anything that allows me to communicate effectively. I think I can write a pretty succinct email and then tell a good joke in my team meeting.

The realization that the organizational, communication, and leadership skills that are innate to me can be valuable to bringing people together and creating something, are what keeps me involved in Project Mgmt.

I have worked on some pretty cool projects (online banking migration, removal of 100+ ATMs, building cafes, etc), but my proudest accomplishment is taking a risk and uprooting my life to take a chance at a Project Mgmt role I was scared I was underqualified for. It ended up changing my life by solidifying my passion for Project Mgmt, and allowed me to meet my husband and build a life and family I had only dreamed of. With the circus of my life right now, I am happy to be able to learn and contribute in this forum, and am looking forward to meeting you all!
