Zay NaungProject Manager| AandA Real Estate and Law FirmMyanmar, 06, Myanmar
Good day Everyone!
Nice to meet you all in PMI community. Let me introduce myself for a minute.
My name is Zay and currently serving as a project manager for residential construction projects and also a real estate legal service provider. I am one of the realtors in my region, too.
To be an engineer is not my first choice. All I wanted to be is a good civil servant (politician, soldier etc) and fully contribute to my community. Though my dreams are far away, I remain gratified to extend my assistance to individuals requiring support in the realm of real estate.
PM is integrated into my daily life since I was young. Believed to be a task-driven person, even a completion of a small task could be my biggest achievement. Moreover, as an only child in a family, with no siblings to consult most of the times, most decisions are made by myself, varying from which clothes to wear for tonight dinners to what kind of life plans will be best working out for me. The impacts have always been analyzed and estimated. I realized that importance of effective communications has been played a vital role for a successful project delivery, too.
It might be a surprise once you hear my biggest achievement so far is getting married a woman that I loved most. It was one of my childhood dreams coming true but took me lots & lots of efforts, engaging with multiple stakeholders to be satisfied and utilized various conflict resolution methods. Luckily, I did not terminate the project :) Apart from that, I managed to work full-time concurrently with studying at NUS and finally become a NUS graduate. And increasing a company ROI of 300% in 2021/2022 periods. All these will be the milestones that I am always be proud of.
Hope to hear your amazing stories, too. Love you all! (Zay)

-Your name and your current role Lenka Pincot, Chief of Staff to the CEO and Head of the Office of the CEO
-What did you want to be when you were growing up? Probably many things 😊 I grew up with my two siblings in a countryside in a post-communist country. I was inspired by my mother who was sewing us clothes. I learned that skill too but I did not see myself as a fashion designer after all. I was playing a guitar, singing and dancing in a local folklore assembly, but I guess that was not enough to make me a performer either. Then I discovered mathematics, chemistry and physics – my favorite subjects at school. I pursued the direction of exploring science and then personal computers came – and that was it. I stayed around technology and graduated as Master of Science in Computer Sciences. Technology became my passion for life.
-What are your favorite project management tools and technologies? Or ones that you’d like to learn more about? I like project management tools that are focused on collaboration, transparency and enable working from anywhere. A good tool should be able to work with multiple information formats, keep a basic structure without being overly prescriptive and let teams chat and engage naturally as they discuss, explore and decide.
-What drew you to the project management profession? What's kept you in it? I was a young junior consultant and was assigned to a project for a large client. My tasks were rather simple, mostly analytical jobs. But then, unexpectedly, our senior project manager resigned and the whole project started to be derailed. I was wondering why is this happening and how can we get our project back on track.
It took two or three month to hire and onboard a new project manager which gave me enough time to try some things by myself – plan and schedule, engage with the stakeholders, manage the deliverables. My interest in project management grew and I wanted to learn more – as I did.
I stayed in the profession because projects bring change, improvements, fix problems. Project management is a very meaningful work with a strong purpose which requires constant learning of new things. You never get bored.
-What's your proudest accomplishment (personal or professional)? This is a hard question for me. I’m future oriented. I always look at what is ahead of me and I don’t count or rank my accomplishments. Besides, there are a very few things that could be done just by one person – most of the great things were created by a team of people. So when I look back at some of my past projects, I see the team moments.
My favorite memory is from an ERP standardization and implementation project. It was a complex, international project with a very ambitious objective – to simplify our processes and solutions across multiple business entities, integrate our systems spanning across all core functional areas, while getting a large and diverse group of stakeholders on the same page.
We had so many difficulties on that journey. Our first rollout was scheduled in summer. It was hot, we worked long hours and our team was getting tired. I ended up doing ice-cream drives to cheer up the team. I remember the faces of my colleagues when I brought them the ice cream – it was not about the sweet treat, it was about the team spirit. We knew we had to figure it out, we were all on the same boat. We were a team.
And that is what motivates me and makes me feel accomplished – when people get together to achieve something bigger, and form a team that makes that happen.
