I would like to self prepare for the exam. I would like to understand from people who have recently passed the certification about what resources I should refer to successfully pass the exam.
How many months of prep is sufficient ?

CAPM Exam Guidance

To earn your Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® certification, you must meet the experience and education requirements and pass the CAPM® examination, a 150-question, multiple-choice test.

Regardless of how advanced your project experience or education might be, you should still prepare vigorously for the exam. Successful CAPM® candidates typically use multiple study aids — including courses, self-study, and study groups — and will spend many hours to prepare, so make sure you leave yourself plenty of preparation time before you take the exam.

Step 1: Get familiar with the essential resources and create your study plan

Step 2: Start with the PMBOK® Guide - but be prepared to move beyond

Step 3: Take a CAPM preparation course and get 23 contact hours of project management training.

Step 4: Finalize your preparation by utilizing a CAPM Simulator!

Step 5: Take the exam and earn your CAPM®!

Please feel free to reach out for any further guidance.

BR,

Markus

Shweta, I suggest the following:

1) Read through the Exam Content Outline (ECO), PMBOK 6th Edition (Including the Agile Extension as lots of questions are Agile / Hybrid based) and then read the PMBOK 7th edition (it is a small book).

2) Go through Rita Mulchay’s Exam Prep book latest edition. This is one of the best resources for exam preparation.

3) After you are done, purchase the Simulator Package through PM Prep Cast and practice as much as you can. This is a great simulator and resource for questions that mimic the real exam.

4) If you want a course to fulfill your educational Hours then check Joseph Phillips on Udemy. He is a PMI ATP and great instructor or check out PMI's self-paced course in the PMI Store.

Hello Rami,

I will be beginning my journey to CAPM. Is this list of suggestions still valid?

Alicia, yes, those should be still valid as far as I am aware except that for item 1, as an alternative, you can read through the Exam Content Outline (ECO), study the PMBOK 7th edition, and then go through the Process Groups Guide.

Of course, there are many other references but personally, those are my recommendations. Good Luck!
