I would like to use Kickoff™ in the context of a pm training for graduates at my company. I am thinking of a combination of self-study and discussions of the Kickoff eLearning, and a case study using the templates provided.
Has anybody done something similar and can share some experience? Saving Changes...

Martin, I haven’t done it as a training but I’d did take the Kick-Off free course and I believe it would very much work for the idea you are proposing. It’s a great course for new PMs. Saving Changes...

Dear Martin I'm using Kickoff as part of training. After talking about the key concepts of project management and after talking about the development (management) approaches that can be used. I ask the trainees to do predictive and agile, I ask them to share their badges and then we exchange opinions about the experience and development approaches Many of the participants in the training talk about templates (when this doesn't happen spontaneously I suggest it) Many use the templates used in Kickoff to solve case studies

Thank you for your response, Luis! Some follow-up questions:
- "we exchange opinions" - is that just an open discussion or do you have any "trigger questions" to start the discussion?
- regarding the templates: I suppose you don't have a standard case study, it's probably rather something from the students context. But are there any templates which are especially popular / useful?

Dear Martin,
yes, I did something simlar in the past, but not with the KICKOFF Course by PMI. However, I know the KICKOFF Course and I am sure it can work the same way I did, what is pretty much the sam what you do suggest here.
I would even assume that a combination of both (the Tool/Course I used) PLUS the KICKOFF Course by PMI can workout great.
Please reach out for any futher questions.
BR,
Markus

Hi - in case anybody is interested, I have now completed the training, which went quite well. I delivered it in 4 blocks:
1. Short information and first task: do the predictive part of Kickoff
2. q&a on the training, an exercise on a whiteboard where the students had to assign the terms from the training to overarching topics (e.g. which term has to do with roles, with planning, etc.). Then I gave them a case study: using the templates, they had to create a project charter, a risk list, and a staff list for the project of organising the next staff party
3. review of the results of the groups, and next task: do the agile part of Kickoff
4. q&a on the training, again the terms on the whiteboard, and comparing predictive with waterfall, then a case study: an app should be built for the staff party. First they had to come up with ideas for the backlog, then we prioritised them, and then we selected the stories for the first sprint
The training went quite well, though I need to review the timing (whiteboard exercises on terms were perceived as too long).
My impression of Kickoff is so-so, technically it is done very well, but the content is sometimes a bit questionable. Some terms are wrong (e.g. Barriers instead of Blockers/Impediments), some terms are missing (e.g. Product Owner), the burndown template is strange (I have never seen this used in a predictive project). In summary: I think it's quite useful, but needs to be embedded in a training with some additional explanations. Saving Changes...
