Hello Kelly,
I believe I may be able to help you. It is very important to start off right. Focus on providing PMO services and functions that serve the needs of your organization. Structure the PMO as a servant leader department that adds value by helping the organization meet its strategic objectives.
If you are willing to provide me with contact info, I can send you a charter (not a template) for a functioning PMO.
I hope all goes well with your implementation!
Harlan

Hi Harlan,
I recently moved from a company where I was a Program Manager to another where I head the Program Management Office. As part of setting up the PMO, my Director has asked that we develop a PMO charter.
I will appreciate if you can send me the charter in question. My email is [email protected]

It's been quite a few years since you made your offer to share your PMO charter. Are you still able to do so?
This document was very helpful for talking with Executives, resource managers, and potential team members. The schedule shown was entirely too ambitious, but the sponsors of our PMO were still very pleased with the implementation and the results we've seen in the past two years.
I attribute the success of our PMO implementation to 3 main factors:
1) C-level support
2) A cross-functional team that was clear on desired results
3) Training for PMs and Sponsors
Hope this helps!
Amber,
I have just seen your PMO post and your link. I have tried to access the example Charter link but it does not seem to resolve. Would you be comfortable reposting, Thanks in advance Darrell Saving Changes...

Hi Harian,
I'm starting a PMO in a mid-size company and my goal is to do it the right way. I would appreciate seeing the sample charter. My hope is that more of a 2023 charter than perhaps something from many years ago.
