looks like working on the symptoms and pushing the team might get you into deeper trouble.
Identify the root causes (typically scope creep, supported by bad estimates) and tackle them, together with the client.
Team up with your people (get their insights and advice, involve them), be honest and transparent and ask for help.
Sit together with the client, they also have an interest in a smooth project, so they might be willing to support beyond the contract. Saving Changes...
Thomas has nailed the criticality of identifying the root cause for the problem by leveraging the wisdom of your team and other close stakeholders. The only thing I'd add is to review the contract to identify any opportunities for improvement within its terms & conditions and to also be aware of the constraints it will impose on any fixes you and the team come up with.
