Is there going to be a separate Gen AI for PM (Project Infinity) in the construction industry, or it will be generic?
It will be nice if we get something specific to construction rather than IT and construction.

Dear Firas,

As of my last info, whether there will be a separate Generative AI (GenAI) specifically for project management in the construction industry, as opposed to a more generic AI solution, largely depends on market demand, technological advancements, and the specific needs of the construction industry. Here’s an overview of the possibilities and considerations:

1. Industry-Specific GenAI Development:
Custom Solutions: The development of industry-specific GenAI solutions is often driven by that industry's unique requirements and complexities. This could include AI tailored to construction project management, site logistics, material procurement, and labor management.
Partnerships: Collaborations between AI developers and construction industry experts could create specialized GenAI tools for construction project management.
2. Adaptation of Generic AI Solutions:
Customizable Platforms: Generic AI solutions may offer customizable platforms that can be adapted to suit the specific needs of the construction industry.
Integration with Construction Management Software: Generic AI solutions might integrate with existing construction management software, adding AI capabilities to existing tools.
3. Market and Technology Trends:
Market Demand: If there is significant demand within the construction industry for specialized AI solutions, it’s more likely that such products will be developed.
Technological Feasibility: The feasibility of creating construction-specific GenAI also depends on the current state of AI technology and its ability to address complex, industry-specific challenges.
4. Benefits of Construction-Specific GenAI:
Tailored Solutions: AI designed specifically for construction project management could better address the unique challenges of construction projects, such as onsite safety, material logistics, and compliance with building codes.
Improved Accuracy and Efficiency: Industry-specific AI could efficiency and cost savings.
5. Considerations for Development:
Data Requirements: Developing effective AI solutions for construction would require access to extensive industry-specific data.
Collaboration with Industry Stakeholders: Involvement of construction professionals in the development process is crucial to ensure the solutions are practical and meet industry needs.
6. Potential Challenges:
Investment and ROI: Developing specialized AI solutions requires significant investment. The return on investment (ROI) must be clear to justify such developments.
Technology Adoption: The construction industry, traditionally being less technology-centric, might face challenges in adopting and integrating AI into standard practices.
Conclusion:
Whether the future will see the development of GenAI solutions specifically for project management in the construction industry depends on a combination of market demand, technological advances, and the active involvement of industry stakeholders in AI development. While generic AI solutions offer flexibility and broad applicability, there is a distinct advantage in having AI tools tailored to the specific needs and challenges of the construction industry. Continued advancements in AI and a growing focus on digital transformation within the construction sector could lead to more specialized AI solutions in the future.

Are you referring to a tool or PMI's current on-demand (free) course? If the latter, then I'd expect PMI will expand their AI-focused offerings or bake AI content into their existing ones.

Thanks, Kiron, Im actually referring to the new chat tool for Project Managers(Project Infinity), as I got to this subscription through it, I was talking straight about it, forgetting about the course. so just to clarify my question, I tried it and found that it is not there yet for construction issues

Firas, I am not sure what you're referring to exactly but if you're referring to the course, then I'd agree with Kiron. However, some AI consideration and tools are covered in the PMI-CP course and specifically the Technology and Innovation Course.

Thanks, Rami! As I responded to Kiron, I was talking about the new chatting tool for PM (Project Infinity), I was asking if it will stay generic for all PMs or if there will be another one for the PM in the construction industry so the response is more specific and more trained on the construction issues

Firas, I haven't heard that PMI are working in one specific to construction but this is good feedback you can provide to them as they have a tab to provide feedback on the tool.

Just out of curiosity: Why are you looking for a separate tool? What thing do you want addressed that the current tool or Open AI can't address?

I gave my feedback about what I have tried, but it's a good idea to suggest as well. I tried it in a construction-related question and didn't seem to understand what I was looking for. when I started studying PMP, most of the instructors or examples were for the IT guys, so when they released those macro credentials just for construction was very happy that finally, they were doing something special. So I think if they do specialize in this new tool for construction, the response will be much more construction-specific oriented rather than something generic, which could be for IT or construction.

I hear your point of view Firas, however, I did personally try this tool and noticed that the answers, while generic, are targeted towards project management in general and not a specific industry. The tool is still in its infancy and your suggestion is a good one so send it over to them for consideration.

Yes, it is. I took your advice and sent them my suggestion, I also applied to become Co Build with PMI. hopefully, I can add value to this great tool. I think you should do the same with all your experience. You rock man, cant believe you took all those certificates and credentials. I raise my hat to you.

Thanks, Firas. Appreciate your kind and motivating words. I was engaged on a high-level during the initial stages of building this product and was also considering applying for the Co Build but this year was a crazy busy year and I was heavily involved with PMI on other fronts but I might still apply early next year for the Co-Build. Cheers!
