We're excited to announce the release of a new feature "@mention" to help you connect and collaborate more effectively in our discussion forums.
To get started: - Type "@" and then continue typing the community member's full name, example: Dan Orth - The person tagged will receive a notification that they've been mentioned in the discussion post.
The feature is currently available in our discussion forums, (including replies), as well as comments on Articles and On-Demand Webinars*
*Edited 4/10/24 to add: "@mention" is now available for comments on Articles and On-Demand Webinars

We're actively discussing the best way to present and prioritize suggestions for @mentions for the next round of improvements, so that's great to hear that a shorter list would help you get the most out of the feature and make it easier/faster to take advantage of it.
@ Laura Coscarelli:
I'm noticing some issues with this feature. After the @name part and selecting the user, all the text starts appearing in bold. Once I backspace for any reason, the entire post disappears, name and all, which is quite frustrating. I have not tried it on other browsers, but it is a problem in Firefox.
It also doesn't seem to work at all if you copy and paste it into the text box which I had to do to account for my generous use of the backspace to fix my typos, but instead I start getting random users popping up while I type for no apparent reason.

Keith Novak - Thank you so much for helping us improve by reporting the issues with such detail.
As a next step, I'm sharing your feedback with our product team and someone may reach out to you 1:1 to follow-up and help troubleshoot.
We'll also apply your feedback to the ongoing iterations of the @mention feature as we work to improve it after the initial release.
Keep those ideas coming as we work to make it easier to notify other community members and bring them into the conversation on the discussion forums.

Laura Coscarelli: I noticed something interesting today in that we can't use the "@mention" feature when we comment on articles, polls and blogs. It would be nice to:
1) Have the ability to use the mention feature everywhere as specifically in articles and blogs, we would want sometimes to tag others who we feel they might be interested in the topic which will drive more community participation.
2) Have the ability to edit comments on articles, blogs and polls.
In my opinion, if I use the MoScOW Prioritization technique, the above two features are Must Have features so would appreciate taking those into consideration. Thanks!

Rami Kaibni - Thanks for posting, I love discovering when we're on the same page, responses Answered below:
1) Have the ability to use the mention feature everywhere as specifically in articles and blogs, we would want sometimes to tag others who we feel they might be interested in the topic which will drive more community participation.
Answer: We’re actively working on the development of @mention in content items (ex: blogs, articles) now and we expect to release it within the next month (late February 2024).
2) Have the ability to edit comments on articles, blogs and polls.
Answer: This has been requested by our Online Community Engagement team, too, and right now this is a lower priority, but our prioritization is always subject to change; I anticipate as we increase the volume of discussion posts/comments, the need for this will be elevated, but thank you for posting with this request because it tells us more about the need.
