how can I get help figuring out how to effectively start-up a contract project engineering business? My goal is to work part-time about 10hours/week outside of my full-time PM role doing capital project management remotely Saving Changes...
2 hours a day never on site is very limited availability so whatever services you would be offering would be very limited in scope and complexity.
I would first consider very carefully what PM capabilities can you offer a client working on capital projects that can be accomplished with that level of time commitment? Second I would consider the market base for those specific skills since capital projects are large and complex. Finally I would consider how to market yourself to those types of clients explaining how you can be of real value in that limited capacity and never on-site. Saving Changes...
I'd agree with Keith that the nature of such projects would make it very challenging to add value as a PM with limited, virtual-only presence, but you might consider a different approach of looking at a specific need in the overall project management space and selling to that. One example might be related to facilitating key risk management activities.
