As Project Managers, we need to utilize the necessary technology at our disposal and Gen AI is one of those technologies that can help project managers be more efficient in certain aspects of their jobs. I have not used Gen AI directly in my projects as a PM, however I have managed projects that involve reviewing large amounts of data and development of AI models to help detect certain diseases such as lung cancer in companion diagnostic development. I have utilized Gen AI for both work and personal projects. A few years ago, I created a critical business document with its assistance. Despite having only a rough idea, the tool helped me produce a comprehensive document that exceeded my expectations. However, human intervention is still necessary to achieve the best outcome.
While Gen AI is beneficial, I worry that others might rely too heavily on it and lose touch with reality. Nevertheless, with proper guidance, I believe Gen AI can greatly enhance productivity and innovation. It has indeed come to stay and will undoubtedly improve the project management world.

At a previous company, we employed data experts to assist us in extracting customers' recorded messages to determine the major, recurring customer issues that we needed to address. We had to convert conversations to text and remove any names or identifying information. Training the system took quite some time, but the USA pilot program was fairly successful, given the state of the technology when this project took place. The problems we encountered were in meeting the European data protection standards which caused the project to run quite long and to go over budget.
