Have you experienced wonderful, potentially unexpected successes using Generative AI in your projects?

I'm eager to hear about the innovative outcomes you've achieved with Gen AI, and how data played a role in these ventures.

What challenges did you encounter, and what benefits did you realize in this process?

Yesterday, HR gave me 28 resumes to review, to select candidates to interview. After deidentifying the resumes (I avoid putting PII into GenAI), I used GenAI to:

- Identify categories for summarizing resume content
- Summarize the resumes
- Create a scoring model based on the job description
- Rank the resumes based on the scoring model and determine the best candidates to interview
- Generate interview questions based on the job description

I still need to spend a little time validating the results. We're not interviewing, yet, so I can't say how big of a success this was, but so far it's been a time saver. I could have spent all day, yesterday, going over 28 resumes and trying to decide who to interview. I probably spent more time creating the instructions for how to repeat the process, to give to the rest of the management team, than I did running everything through GenAI.

GenAI helps me create initial content to further massage into the final product. It is also a great tool for summarizing content from emails and documents.
I noticed when experimenting with OpenAI, Bing, Gemini, and Claude, they all behave differently when the prompt is not very specific.
So whenever possible, I cross-check my prompts across multiple GPTs and change the prompt if needed to get the results I'm looking for.

I've used it a lot and I'm always on the lookout for new developments in the world of A.I. I'm currently working on an IT service governance project and generative has helped me a lot to develop policies that are more appropriate to the context, analyse large volumes of data and generate valuable insights. It's important for us as project managers to realise that there are a multitude of tools to support different sectors. As an example, I can cite Artificial Intelligence tools that enter meetings and automatically compile all the minutes with a full transcript (in minutes). This is a huge step forward, and if we take advantage of it, we'll reach the highest levels of efficiency.
I too am interested to know what AI tools were utilized to provide a full transcript of a meeting.

Generative AI models such as GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) have made major advances in natural language creation. These models can generate human-like writing on a variety of themes, enabling applications such as content generation, chatbots, and language translation.

I have leveraged Gen AI in my project for 2 years analyzing and generating email response, creative communication bulletin, developing draft project document and templates as well as for writing serious excel formulas. Gen AI has really changed the game for me both professionally and personally.

GenAI has been fun to learn. There are an endless amount of use cases and applications to improve our day-to-day workflow on a personal level. On the business side, it is not always feasible to use the public GPT models for document analysis or email summaries, because there are privacy and security concerns with sending sensitive data to 3rd parties. Has anyone heard of, or is using a local solution that addresses the data security concerns?

Hello Claudia,

Indeed, we've had some remarkable successes with the integration of Generative AI in our projects. One standout achievement was using AI to optimize our resource allocation process, which led to a 20% reduction in operational costs while maintaining project efficiency.

Data has been the cornerstone of this success. By feeding the AI system with comprehensive historical project data, the AI was able to identify patterns and inefficiencies that were not immediately apparent to our team.

Challenges were primarily around data curation and ensuring model interpretability. Initially, our data was not in a format that was immediately usable for AI processing, so considerable effort was spent on cleaning and structuring the data.

The benefits, however, have been substantial. Apart from cost savings, the GenAI has provided us with predictive insights that help in proactive decision-making. It has also fostered a data-centric culture in our team, making us more analytical in our approach to project management.

Looking forward to further discussion and insights from others!

Hi Darryl,
Did you use an online ChatGPT, or a local solution?

Teaching my students how to give GenAI a practical and ethical use and not only as the assistant that can complete your tasks. Showing them how improving the quality of the prompt has a huge impact on the quality of the outcomes.

I am not aware of the use of AI at my company. Working in the defense industry, there is much regulation to manage data privacy and data sharing. I am eager to learn how the government industry is leveraging AI.
