Hello all, and happy New Year to you! This year is statistically significant and will likely see more ramifications of AI in various domains. AI has always been around, but democratization happened only in late 2022 with the ChatGPT revolution, and then 2023 saw the deluge of AI-related roles, companies, IT applications, and more. 2024 may lessen the hype around AI and bring in some consolidation and streamlining with a reinforcement of the regulatory lens. It's just the beginning of the year, and it's what we do this year that will define the course of this technology.

I’m curious: if you were in a room full of project managers with varied experience in years and domains, what’s the ONE (only one!) question you’d ask them about AI?

Thanks and happy new year once again!

We are facing challenges but should also embrace opportunities to include this tool in our WOW. The context in which we use AI to construct and deconstruct efficiently, do our job, is up to us.

Happy New Year! Deepa. Your reflections on the trajectory of AI in 2022 and 2023 resonate deeply. As we navigate the evolving landscape of AI, my one burning question for a room full of project managers would be: "How has AI transformed your approach to risk management in projects, and what key lessons have you learned in integrating AI responsibly to mitigate potential risks?" Excited to hear diverse perspectives and insights from seasoned project managers!

My question would be "are you involved in an AI initiative at your company?"

I feel project managers can influence AI usage with views on ethical stances, data scrubbing, and validation of AI outputs as well as how the PMO/Enterprise uses AI to conduct their daily functions. As PMs, we should already be checking the information and data our team members and stakeholders give us and I feel this is a way we can show our experience in finding the underlying truth within AI outputs.
Wow! A good practical question! I am sure they must have AI in their mind.

Hi Deepa,

Here’s my challenge-based question for your consideration.

If the following progression is true:
1. Transparency » Leads to facts (and enables accountability).
2. Facts » Lead to the discovery of truth.
3. Truth » Authorizes trust.

How can we trust Gen-AI when the era of transparency has been “lost to time” through democratization and monetization?
Excellent questions with details too. Thanks

Do you know, apart from the generative AI tools like ChatGPT, Bard, MidJourney, Dall-e etc., any particular functional area where the AI has delivered performance that is significantly better than the existing tool/process?

(I know of 3 areas where it did not. At least in one area, Business Decisions made to disinvest from AI development).
