Dear all, happy new year to you and your family.
I have a general question. What motivational theories do you use for your project teams? and are some motivational theories more suitable for some ages or not?
I was reading Herzverg and the self determination theories.

thank you for your help.

Adding to Kiron's list (great, by the way): A book I find valuable is 'The 5 Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace' by Gary Chapman & Paul White. Knowing how people express, and prefer to receive, appreciation goes a long way with breaking down barriers to motivate.
Hi Clint thank you

In my personal opinion, Maslow still remains a must read and understanding, When I read and think about his model more and more I really understand more the whole world. Adding to add I am researching this topic in the framework of quantum physic including it I have published an article in some PMI´s official publications. But returning to my previous point, Maslow is a must.
thank you Sergio

Reinforcement motivational theory helps a lot to get your team to attain the desired results. This theory uses praise, rewards, and distinction for team members' good performance, and only applies punishments as a last option when unwanted acts can't be stopped with any method. Reinforcement motivational theory can be tailored according to the age stage of the team member.
Thank you Veronica

Yasmina,
All good points here! Although I respect and read some of the mentioned teories from my point of view a project managers we need to learn or read about them as much as we can, because those are tools that we can use. However as someone mentioned, different persons may respond differently to various motivational approaches, as more we learn, as more we can use a combination of theories.

I directly/indirectly ask the same question from them and based on the responses try to do my best. It is a little bit tricky, though.
