Dear all, happy new year to you and your family.
I have a general question. What motivational theories do you use for your project teams? and are some motivational theories more suitable for some ages or not?
I was reading Herzverg and the self determination theories.

thank you for your help.

Motivational theories attempt to distill a complex concept into simple categories. While each might help to explain aspects of a situation, they are references and not replacements for situational leadership judgment.

I prefer some of the newer models - Daniel Pink's three levers for unleashing intrinsic motivation, Lencioni's signs of a miserable team, Kim Scott's Radical Candor are just three which come to mind.

Dear Kiron
I think I need to read the book "Radical Candor" to better understand the concept.
Honestly, I wasn't very excited.
I was reminded of a situation in the film: "Dead Poets Society" regarding how to interpret poetry

They are so many theories of motivation, and what is interesting about them all is that there is none that is a one fit all theory.

Adding to Kiron's list (great, by the way): A book I find valuable is 'The 5 Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace' by Gary Chapman & Paul White. Knowing how people express, and prefer to receive, appreciation goes a long way with breaking down barriers to motivate.

Kim Scott has done a great job in her book of providing guidance on how to address challenging situations related to the other three quadrants in her model so it is well worth the read, especially when the feedback is from a team member to their manager.

Reinforcement motivational theory helps a lot to get your team to attain the desired results. This theory uses praise, rewards, and distinction for team members' good performance, and only applies punishments as a last option when unwanted acts can't be stopped with any method. Reinforcement motivational theory can be tailored according to the age stage of the team member.

In my personal opinion, Maslow still remains a must read and understanding, When I read and think about his model more and more I really understand more the whole world. Adding to add I am researching this topic in the framework of quantum physic including it I have published an article in some PMI´s official publications. But returning to my previous point, Maslow is a must.
