Mohammad -

At present, most Generative AI tools require connectivity back to an organization or cloud provider's servers so without internet connectivity, they can't be used to improve the efficiency or effectiveness of delivery. This is not to say that a specific trained AI model couldn't be deployed to a mobile device and used in the field, but it would likely be focused on a specific set of capabilities rather than a general tool.

Mohammad, my thoughts are in line with Kiron’s - Unfortunately utilising AI capabilities would requires access to internet just like most things these days.

Yes, AI in construction can be useful offline for tasks like project planning, resource optimization, and equipment maintenance through pre-loaded algorithms and data. Hopefully, in the future, more useful features will be added to offline work.

I am little confuse about what is the Negative and positive points of using AI ?
And We have to pay for it ?

The effectiveness of AI based tools is dependent on the information available at the back end for the tool to process. While routine processes could be supported by AI, the major challenge is in the customised solutions, specific to a project and a set of stakeholders with either competing or divergent requirements.
In my experience, no AI tool has so much back end information in its repository, especially related to the construction industry, that it can be used as is. The application of mind is the most critical link in AI.
So to sum it up, positive point is searching for information is easy, but the negative part is if you do not know how to read this information in the context of where you want to use it, you are in trouble.

There are a few options. Multiple AI applications will run locally on a PC, or there is an option for using desktop or cloud based functions. Generative text like ChatGPT or Grammarly require a stable internet connection, but generative CAD programs may not. Autodesk runs locally and only requires an internet connection every 30 days. There are certainly limits however due to storage space and computing power.

If there is regular movement between the home office and the job site and you aren't expecting results in real time, you might use the more powerful capabilities in the office and bring the relevant information to the field. Before the days of AI, that was still a problem with computers where internet is not available, and few if anyone may use computers on some sites. Even before computers, drawings might be carried to the site, mark-ups made on the paper drawing itself and then brought back to the office for formal revisions.

Pre-trained AI models:

Offline planning and simulation: AI models trained on large datasets can be pre-loaded onto local devices for tasks like optimizing project plans, simulating construction processes, and identifying potential risks even without an internet connection.

I thnk your real question is this: "how will AI eat job of people in construction area /management". Forget about it. First, is a cost-benefit decision. I am living in a country where time ago the governor of the most important province in the country said that they create work because instead of using machines they will use human being to execute repetitive and work intensive tasks..... Second, there is a mistake about few people know that today, in construction like in other fileds, they are surrounded of AI devices without knolwledge about that. When you use AI the final decision is still in the human being hands.

AI: Threat to Jobs or an Opportunity?

In the 1980s, my government employee father advised me, "Learn typing, learn shorthand, it will be beneficial for your career. But " In the 1990s, he said, "Learn computer; son, computers will take away our jobs!" My father didn't know computers, but computers couldn't take away my father's job. What a surprise, oh father! My father who himself didn't know computers, bought me a computer thinking about his son's future. Subhanallah!

5 years ago, I asked my cousin, "Professor cousin, a knowledgeable person, taught at universities in Canada and Japan. What subject is my nephew studying?" He said, "Pray, he is studying AI." I was surprised and asked, "What is that, brother?" A very knowledgeable person taught me about AI at the beginning of my life.

After working abroad for a decade, I returned home in late 2020. AI was slowly starting to be adopted in the country of Bangladesh. Four years later, now it's lightly raining along with AI adoption. But there is a storm, rain, and tornado with GenAI on foreign professional platforms. "How will AI take away the jobs of management people?"

My son has been advised also by her father like my father, to learn Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and AI. Learn GenAI. Embrace new technology. Otherwise, you will be left behind."

Your real question is: "How will AI take away the jobs of management people?" In this world, no machine has ever taken away anyone's job. History is witness to that. Jobs are taken away by line managers when there is a conflict of interest. History is witness

When you use AI, the final decision is still in your hands as a mentor.

AI will be a threat to those who will not have upskilled. But it is a long way before AI takes away most of the construction sector jobs. There are, I think opportunities for AI in construction. Think of Digital Twins, IoT and machine learning applications to site management.
