Harish -
It depends on what you are looking to get from your mentor. This will help you narrow it down to in person only or virtual also, which industry their experience is tied to, what roles they have held and so on. The better job you do at defining your objectives from a mentoring relationship, the more likely you will be to find the right one. As far as where to look, many PMI Chapters do have mentoring programs in place and a number of us in this community do provide mentoring services (virtually) either free or at cost depending on the individual. Harish, In principal, I do agree with Kiron, you need to do your due diligence first and then take the step. Besides PMI Chapters that, for the most part, do offer free mentorship programs, you can also check on LinkedIn for mentors but majority of them would be at cost, however, make sure you do properly verify their experience to make sure it aligns with what you're looking for in a mentor.

To add to what Kiron said, you may want to look into if you company has any kind of networking or mentor programs to offer you.

Love can sweep you off your feet and carry you along in a way you've never known before. But the ride always ends, and you end up feeling lonely and bitter. Wait. It's not love I'm describing. I'm thinking of a monorail. - Jack Handey |
