How open would you be to being a mentor?  Have you even had a mentor who helped foster change in your life?

Jennifer -

I have mentored (in person and virtually) a number of practitioners at different stages in their careers over the past two decades. While it does take a meaningful amount of effort to be a mentor, it is also very rewarding if you can see the mentee progress.

And I doubt anyone who is even moderately successful over their careers can claim to have done so without the help of a mentor, so by mentoring others we are just paying it back.

Jennifer, years ago, I did have couple of mentors: One was my direct supervisor and it was free mentorship, and a few years later I did consult with a professional mentor and paid for a few sessions. Both mentorship experiences did add lots of value to my career path and did help shape my journey.

On another note, I've been mentoring individuals for the past 10 years, some through volunteering with my PMI Local Chapter and PMI Global Headquarters, others through my side gig at RMK Coaching. It a rewarding experience for both parties!

I have not had a mentor, however, I do my best to help others if I really can be a help.

I mentor about 15 people concurrently; some go, and some new ones come. For quite a few, I had an impact, like finding a job, achieving PMP or other exams.
Some people influenced me and my life, but not all had formal mentorship with me.

Some mentors, like the person who guided me in my first sales job, impacted me.

Hi Jennifer,
Its an interesting and relevant in these times where there are paradigm shifts happening across the industries. I was lucky during my career to experience both as a mentee as well as a mentor.
Its an wonderful experience to share and learn through this journey :-)
