As project management practitioners, we are indoctrinated to be ethical by doing "what is right", not "what is legal”. PMI publishes the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and the Ethical Decision Making Framework as aids as we practice our craft.

Upon reflection, what other references, principles, and/or guidance, where applicable, do you also observe in your profession and/or discipline to stay ethical? How are they being employed in your professional practice? Feel free to share your experience for a wholesome discussion.

For example, a medical professional, who is a physician and a PM, often follows three (or more) frameworks, such as a Medical Association/Board at the national/regional level, the organization's Code of Conduct, and, obviously, the PMI Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.

Thank you Abolfazi. For example, I follow many frameworks with overlapping guidelines from several professional associations and regulatory bodies as a charterholder/certificant/licensee/registrant, the firm policy, and personal mores/values.

In addition to the suggestions made by Kiron, I would like to mention the following legal and regulatory frameworks:

Respect for national and international laws and regulations is an essential component of moral behavior in work. Businesses usually provide training to make sure staff members are aware of the legal responsibilities related to their jobs.
