Hello! I am looking for some general information/resources that can be used to educate stakeholders in my organization on what their role means and general expectations. I have found numerous resources on PMI.org and other sites geared towards a Project Manager and how to identify and manage stakeholder, but I can't seem to find any directed for the stakeholder.  Does anyone have any recommendations of what they've used or resources they've found? Thanks in advance!

Megan. the reason you didn’t find anything directed for stakeholders is probably because stakeholders differ from one project to another including their role, expectations, level of engagement, interests so the role meaning and general expectations are not a one-size-fit-all.

I'd echo Rami's feedback. It might be helpful if you narrow down the scope of which stakeholders you'd want to educate. Generally, I've found that having a 1:1 meeting with key stakeholders and developing a mutual understanding of how we will work together works best.

First, you need to identify stakeholders, then define their roles and categorize them as either Primary or Secondary. Establish or determine the impact (High/Medium/Low) based on their engagement in the project. Once you have established the above scenario, set the rules to engage stakeholders accordingly.

Is difficult for me to understand "Education on how to be a Stakeholder". I think is better is you put here a list of blockers you found in your project. Because related to the role, you have to list the roles that will be involved into your projects and for each one you can find accountability, responsability descriptions in lot of different sites.

Thank you all for your input! Our executive leadership team in my area was looking for something more general that can be used to set expectations with stakeholders on how they can/should participate and be effective, regardless of the project or program. From there, PMs will still be responsible for identifying their specific stakeholders and set specific expectations related to the individual effort. Thanks again.
