Is Startup experience valid for PMI-ACP?

Hi, I have worked as a project manager in the past, but in the last 5 years I founded and managed an EdTech startup, we run the company according to Agile principles and in the last 2 years I've been responsible for two software development squads with our work based on SCRUM. Is this experience valid for PMI-ACP certification?

Sorry if this is a basic question, never applied for any PMI certification before.

Gunther, in my opinion, your experience as presented is valid and does qualify for the application. Your designation or post doesn’t matter for the purposes of the application as long as you were doing day to day PM activities. Hope this helps!

For the agile experience, I'd suggest review the PMI-ACP Exam Content Outline (https://www.pmi.org/-/media/pmi/documents/...am-outline.pdf) and confirm that you had performed the majority of the tasks listed.

However, you will also need the general (12 months over the past five years) PM experience as you don't have your PMP.

Thanks guys, I'll look deeper into it. @Kiron, thanks for the reference. I'd love if you could point out other reference material for me to make sure this certification is for me.

They don't really clarify what they mean by General PM experience, but one option is to look at the Exam Content Outline for the PMP and review the tasks within it to see whether you performed a sufficient number of those for the required number of months. That ECO is available here: https://www.pmi.org/-/media/pmi/documents/...ine-english.pdf

I genuinely believe that the Agile mindset is valuable in any environment, whether it's a well-established corporation or a startup. Understanding Agile concepts and tailoring them to suit the situation is essential. Success comes from being adaptable and flexible, regardless of the challenges.

With that in mind, I believe you meet the requirements for your PMI-ACP application. However, there's no harm in giving it a try. I encourage you to take that courageous first step! Good luck!
