Ricardo, this is a question that requires a very lengthy answer. Briefly, this involves the integration between all knowledge areas in project management from Planning to monitoring and controlling: Define clear objectives and milestones, develop project plan, establish KPIs, utilize PM tool, Communication and Collaboration.

To manage scope creep, make your default answer "no." I learned this as a social worker. If you're going to go over time, over budget, or over manpower, it's perfectly okay to default to "no." You can also use this tactic to avoid overbooking your personal life.

Q. " How do you address scope creep . . .?"

A. Most productively within the contract for work BEFORE the work begins.
