Projects are uncertain endeavors. The more we can push back that uncertainty, the higher the confidence we and our stakeholders will gain in our ability to deliver the projects successfully.
One simple example is understanding the expectations of key stakeholders before we get started. That can help us understand how much resetting might be needed if those expectations are unrealistic.

I guess the more background information we gather about the project, the more number of risks could be avoided/prevented/mitigated during the project journey. And much of this exercise should happen at the beginning of the project specially in cases of construction projects.
