I recently provided an update regarding our progress towards finalizing the next phase of the project. However, my supervisor expressed concern about sharing this information with the team. I strongly believe in maintaining full transparency within our group. Do you think my decision to share was misguided? Saving Changes...

Maintaining transparency with your team is very important as it does make them feel acknowledged and involved. However, what you need to do first is understand why your supervisor expressed concern about sharing the progress update with the team (Is there confidential or sensitive info involved? or will the update impact team morale?).
If the rationale makes sense to you then great, if not, then you can express your point of view to him or her. Saving Changes...
As I responded in the other thread, without further context it would be hard to comment conclusively but I would agree that responsible transparency (i.e. providing information with sufficient context and in line with established standards or policies for information sharing) is preferable to hiding information.
Maybe your supervisor has a main reason for not sharing information with the team at that time. You can have a conversation with your superior, to ask him about that reason, and, if there isn't any, you should tell him about the standards of transparency and objectivity that must be comply in a project.
