PMI is providing a framework and foundation for learning AI and I'm impressed with the tools and knowledge available for PMs.
I would like to know how can project managers refine or redefine core skills needed to work with GenAI or AI technology, that would not have been required before GenAI technology? Saving Changes...
I'd consider it more of a refinement and suggest taking a prompt engineering class. Think of GenAI as a new stakeholder that you have to learn how to talk to and, in some cases, interpret. Saving Changes...
As Aaron mentions, prompt engineering is the main skill when dealing with GenAI-specific AI platforms and there are a number of free & paid self-learning options for those. It is also important for PMs to ensure they have the right SMEs engaged in their projects to validate the inputs and outputs of the platforms.

I can write about my experience along the years. But my recommendation is take a look to the new free training published by the PMI about data an AI. In the first part you will find a great discussion about the domains where the PM is helped by using AI. It is a great source of information. Saving Changes...

Yvette, I am not sure that PMs would need to redefine their skills but maybe they would need to add to those skills and refine others. Courses would definitely help and practice as well because classes without practice I feel are not enough so its a combo between education and hands-on expertise. Saving Changes...
Yvette, if you observe carefully, technologies like GenAI and AI are heavily reliant on data. Hence, to configure and brainstorm solutions involving AI tech, it is very much needed to have a deep understanding of the techniques of how data is collected, pre-processed, and analysed. Accuracy and quality of data determines the success rate of your project and the associated risk factors.
From my personal experience, courses and videos are a great place to start to gather the fundamentals about data but to gain practical expertise, it is better to learn by working on a real-time project or get some consultations from data scientists or AI engineers by involving with them in projects.
