I recently spotted a posting on LinkedIn titled From Project Manager to Project Leader. I eagerly went to the post, expecting a discussion of this great topic. Unfortunately, it was an article espousing how a software tool will turn a project manager into a leader.

What makes a person a leader? What is leadership to you?

Hi Wayne,

I agree, part of leadership is understanding others, facilitating idea generation and acting decisively.

I'm more in favour of situational leadership, using a consultative approach where it's effective and in other scenarios adopting other leadership styles as necessary. In my experiences. the team won't respect you for dithering but will look to you for decisive action taking and leadership.
