[1] When you ponder the impact of AI-based tooling and the future of AI-enabled technologies on your personal and professional life, which words (from below) resonate with your being?
[2] If you extend those thoughts to a societal level, do you hear an echo of the same words, or do they change?

George, interesting question. Benefactor and Enabler do resonate with me.
On a societal level, very recently, a friend of mine had an argument with his partner and he is not the best text writer and usually when he texts during arguments he makes things worse so he decided to ask ChatGPT to draft a response for him this time and when he sent this response to his partner, she was overly impressed and the issue was resolved. What do you call this?

I've never ever heard of this syndrome before so I learned something new today :-)

Thanks Gorge. I think these words and many more will resonate differently depending on the person's level of reliance on this AI tool.
Personally I'll go for an aid. Saving Changes...
You do know how to ask thought provoking questions, especially before my morning coffee has hit my bloodstream :-)
1. At an individual level, I see AI as Advisor & Enabler when it helps me do things more efficiently or effectively, but a Distraction when it consumes all the air in a discussion (online or in person).
2. At a societal level, I view it as a Competitor or Disruptor for some (those whose jobs or businesses are rendered redundant for example), a Benefactor for others (when a machine learning model helps them in a way which humans couldn't have as quickly or effective such as rapid diagnosis of cancer), but also a Distraction as it draws energy away from urgent challenges of our times including climate change and the re-rise of the Great Powers.
Kiron Saving Changes...

Since Rami Kaibni initially sent this thread in an interesting and funny direction, and Kiron Bondale followed it up with some pre-caffeinated deep thoughts, I thought before the thread fell below the fold that I would add something profound to garner some engagement from the quiet majority.
Unfortunately, any profound thought circling the room this evening did not reach my fingertips, so I wondered what would come to my mind if I tried to write something using the words I listed above in the order they are listed.
The result was a bit bizarre but provides an opportunity for some commentary (read below).
My [1] advisers have implored me to recant a recent excerpt from one of my articles that asserted AI is but an [2] apparition with the substance of a neutrino.
Anyone who knows me knows I would never insult anyone or anything purposely, let alone the most abundant particle in the universe, whose primary [3] benefactor, the CPU Board (Cosmological Particle Union Board), holds an integrated stake in AI.
Has the AI universe lost its contextual perspective and ability to appreciate and understand satire’s more significant purpose, which is to draw attention to societal concerns through constructive criticism? Or is this just AI trying to silence a perceived [4] competitor of thought and is using the marginalized and massless neutrino as a [5] disruptor, a [6] distraction to shut down divergent voices?
Regardless of the driving factors behind this absurdity, I would never harbor or be an [7] enabler of antineutrino sentiment, as I have always believed that the union of matter and antimatter is the great [8] equalizer of societal imbalance. So, I apologize for any pain I might have caused in this matter and my reference to the absence thereof.
The above rhetorical statement plays on the notion that I’m a critic of AI-based technologies out of concern for societal impacts, which I am. But I get in “a bit of trouble” for this fact, as AI doesn’t understand the context I’m speaking from nor the humor and literary devices in play.
Although founded on a ridiculous basis, would the above statement represent an [9] impediment to AI finding deeper corollary meanings—yes, and when the models eventually recognize them, would they be deemed unnecessary artifacts to understanding—I don’t know.
I guess after all of that, I found my more profound thought:
- Can AI be the [10] liberator of human potential if knowledge becomes cleansed to a resolved and dictated statement of fact versus the multi-layered, purposely unresolved statements of principles and beliefs that force one to resolve facts of their own?

We have not seen and imagined much of the consequences of AI. So, I believe any of your labels suit someone in some situations. I compare AI today with the introduction of emails in the 1990s. Some were afraid, some explored the usage, and some exaggerated. Still, in the 2000s, executives asked their PAs to print emails, which came down to neglecting them.
The hype around AI is already replacing that of agile, which I think is good. Saving Changes...
Thanks, George, for this interesting question. I think i will go with - Disruptor and Benefactor
Disruptor as it is a disrupting technology that one cannot "not" notice, dabble in it and then perhaps allow it to disrupt your day to day workflow. That you do intentionally trying to test the waters and see the benefits.
Benefactor for the large scale changes especially at a social level as it has sure shown the potential to ease mundane processes and brought excitement in the overall landscape of what seemed difficult or impossible. For example, I see a good potential of AI-enabled screening for healthcare medical condiation in rural set up where technology is sure a boon.
I would also add distractor as it does create a distraction!
