I have always had one large project management contract fulltime generally for a year or more at a time. I am looking to work more on smaller contracts, mostly smaller companies that need project management help. I like the mentoring aspect of my work and would like to work with companies who want to learn how to manage projects better (as the old saying goes: 'teach a man (person) to fish'). Any suggestions on how to make this leap?

Brian, this should be an easy leap for you to make because you have 20 years of expertise in your pocket managing large projects. I did almost the same kind of shift and the leap was smooth. You just need to identify your niche market, and identify smaller PM consulting companies that might be interested in your services. LinkedIn is a great platform for this. Hope this helps - Good Luck!

So, Brian,
looks like you will need to define this "Program/Project."
Mission, Vision, Goals, Objectives, Strategies.

Need to start with the end in sight.

"Idea Sources:"
a. Formed groups within PMI.org.
b. SBA in your region.
Cheers,
Bill
