The COVID-19 pandemic served as a catalyst for the widespread adoption of digital transmission and artificial intelligence (AI). Here's a breakdown of this intertwined growth:

 * Digital Transmission as the Lifeline: Social distancing necessitated a shift to remote work, education, and communication. Digital transmission technologies like video conferencing platforms, cloud storage solutions, and high-speed internet became the cornerstones of this new normal.

 * AI: Powering the Digital Shift: The surge in digital interactions led to a data deluge. AI stepped in to empower businesses and organizations by:

   * Analyzing vast amounts of data to identify patterns and trends, aiding in pandemic response strategies.

   * Automating repetitive tasks, freeing up human resources for more critical endeavors.

   * Fueling the development of AI-powered chatbots that provided remote support and answered questions.

In essence, digital transmission formed the foundation for remote operations, while AI served as the intelligent engine that optimized these processes. This symbiotic relationship has fundamentally reshaped how we work, learn, and interact in a post-pandemic world.

I think GenAI is what brought AI into mainstream limelight, and that may not be a major function of the pandemic. So, in that regard, I think the popularity of AI would have taken off regardless. Having said that, I certainly think that the pandemic did influence many new use cases for AI in general, e.g., disease response in healthcare.
