Hi there! This would be a question best answered by folks who've sat for the PMP exam, but great source of learning for the rest of us who are aiming to do the same! I tried to do a search here but didn't find what I was looking for, so I apologize if this one has been overdone.

I am prepping for the PMP exam this year. I've taken a prep course and am working through many practice exams to facilitate my learning. Do you have any other tips to ensure readiness to sit for the exam? What was the most helpful for you? What do you wish you'd spent more time studying? Looking for lessons learned! :)

Thanks much!

Anne, I am surprised that you didn't find what you were looking for when you searched as there are lots of related discussion threads. Since you took the course already, here is what I suggest you do: (This is based on feedback received from candidates)

1) Read through the Exam Content Outline (ECO), PMBOK 6th Edition (Including the Agile Extension as lots of questions are Agile / Hybrid based) and then read the PMBOK 7th edition. I believe both editions are still relevant to the exam.

2) Go through Rita Mulchay’s Exam Prep book, I think its 11th edition now, but double check. This is one of the best resources for exam preparation because PMBOK alone is not enough.

3) After you are done, purchase the Simulator Package through PM Prep Cast and practice as much as you can. This is a great simulator and resource for questions that somehow mimic the real exam and will help you in time management as well as you practice.

Hope this helps - Let me know if you have further questions - Good Luck!

Hi Latricia,
Aileen Ellis on YouTube was a big help when I prepared for the exam. She reviews sample exam questions and reviews why the answer is the correct answer.

Questions, questions, questions! Go through as many exam questions as you can. I used the ~$50 PMI Study Hall and went through 2 full exams and the many other practice questions through Study Hall.

There are two great thought leaders with easy and hard questions:
Easier: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zht0-j03NfQ
Harder: https://www.youtube.com/@indemiaorg/videos

I just took mine and passed a few weeks ago and found that the Easier questions were easier than the actual exam and the Harder questions were harder than the exam questions. SO, if you're answering the Harder questions correctly with regularity then you're in good shape. Good luck!

Hello,
I find Andrew Ramdayal's videos to be super helpful at breaking down the content to make it super simple. Especially oay attention to the PMP Mindset that he elaborated because on the PMP Exam, the answer options tend to really trick more experienced project managers based on usual practice versus the PMI ways.

Best of luck!
Rose
