Not sure if anyone has reached the level of saturation which I have about A.I.-related discussions, but I thought I'd put it out there to see if I'm the only one feeling it has "jumped the shark" and it is time to (re)focus on the fundamental challenges which have always plagued project management and sharing field-tested ways to resolve those?
For me it's more a pox on:
- the same question asked multiple times because people aren't taking the time to look
- overhyping and fearmongering - clickbait Saving Changes...
I agree with Aaron's points. A lot of the discussion is "How will AI do all my work for me?" which I may browse or scroll by especially if it's been asked 20X. I am however constantly learning technical skills for new and different projects, so I am definitely interested in the real potential for learning things faster or that could aid what I already do but to do so more easily.
I sometimes do a lot of research and tools like ChatGPT look like a great way to get started and find leads to dig deeper. I'm leading a six-sigma project but haven't done the math in years. Rather reading a text book to find the right section, I'd rather AI direct me to the specific topic and guide me through an example. I use more and more advanced Excel functions and would love voice command to analyze data and visualize the results. I'd love to be able to compare large datasets like planned vs. actual time for specific tasks to see if estimates are heavily padded, reasonable, or wishful thinking.
I won't boycott the discussions because I'm constantly scanning for new practical and more effective ways of working (to borrow from DA). I'll just be somewhat choosy about which topics to participate. Saving Changes...

It would seem that AI, the panacea of our profession, has, or at least will, solve the fundamental challenges we face in project management—I think not.
I agree that we “should” refocus on the foundational issues that have caused cracks in our project armor. Unfortunately, the “focus on everything AI” is coming from all quadrants, fueling the engines that are creating burnout marks in PMC. So, at this point, I don’t believe the contagion is containable.
I will jump in on a subject where I feel I can make a principled statement, but I have little desire to join the “run of the mill” AI posting. I have also exhausted myself, as I’m sure I have exhausted all of you with my “AI cautionary tales,” so I’m curtailing myself in that regard, and you all said—it’s about time.

I think it would be best that AI has it own forum, and move all conversations there, not for nothing PMI is creating its own AI governance standard. Saving Changes...
Francisco Herrera - So glad you mentioned the need for a separate AI-topic discussion forum.
As "groups" and subscription settings evolve over the next 6-12 months as we improve our online community technology, our vision on the Online Community Team is to provide better levels of segmentation and personalization, including by topic, such as AI.
I'm hopeful that we will be able to deliver a better experience soon that will allow community members to get the right content, such as discussions, at the right time, aligned to their roles and interests, so please continue to share here with your ideas on how we can serve you all better.

I fully disagree about to separate the forums. People is free to participate in the discussion they like. I somebody do not like to pay attention to a discussion then it is free do not that.

I am participating in each debate I have the opportunity trying that things that was happened with Agile do not happen with AI. In fact, people are talking about AI when they intend to talk about generative AI. I hope the PMI will not make with AI the same big mistake that did with Agile. That´s because I am participating and I will participate into each debate I can about the matter. Sometimes the PMI to maintain its business jeopardizes the work of all people that are highly involved in creating solutions. Saving Changes...

Hi Sergio,
I do not believe that “Levels of segmentation and personalization” necessarily represent separate forums, as we understand them now, wherein PMC, Community Central, and Certification Central are “separate forums.”
For instance, we could have PMC (Project Management Central) as one forum but still have segmentation and personalization under a single logical page.
We need to have focused conversations on “subject categories” and not be in jeopardy of losing focus of that conversation because the subject fell below the fold. It would also be helpful to have the ability to essentially “subscribe” to topics of interest, among other features.
We need new mechanics on the site to enrich the experience and create a “learning environment.” At the moment, I don’t believe we necessarily have that at an appreciable level.
This site, which we love and enjoy, uses legacy UI mechanics and needs an overhaul.
