Creating a “challenge-based” environment is the key to innovation.
These types of environments, which generally drive from the bottom up, require a top-down element that, through structure, enables and empowers the teams. The structure portion is guidance (from management) through objectives and rules of engagement.
So, one may view this as a hybrid style of management.
