Planning is a critical factor in determining the success or failure of a project, not only in construction but in other industries as well. The question often arises as to what constitutes "adequate" planning. Inadequate planning in the early stages and throughout the project life cycle can lead to many project execution challenges for project managers as explained in PMI-CP Execution Planning e-learning course. If you have experience with LPS in your projects, what aspects of it have been effective and what areas have proven impractical?

Hi Aung, for large mega projects, I have not ever heard anyone describe the LPS as impractical. The identification of the hand offs and next steps from beginning to end can only help. I would imagine if it was applied to a smaller project where it might not make sense, then it could be impractical. Sort of like the old adage, "don't use a sledgehammer to kill a fly".
