I just entered the Project Management field in July 2023 and currently prepping for the CAPM; however, I'm curious if I could go straight for the PMP even though I do not have 3 yrs of experience.  Any insight would be appreciated.

No - to submit your PMP application you do need three years (36 non-overlapping months) of project leadership experience.

This is a question I’ve had as well. Thank you for clearing this up for me!

Shannon, I agree with Kiron, in your case, you should go for the CAPM first.
