Why are you charged 70$ to reschedule?

I scheduled the exam within the 30-day mark but before the 48 mark.  That should be enough time given it is at a test center.  I just graduated and have no job and no money so 70$ is a lot to me right now.  If anything, They should only charge that amount after r/s once.  I feel it is unnecessary and ridiculous. I was told I needed immediate eye surgery b/c of the risk I have with a disease, so I needed to r/s this exam.....  It's all about the money, not building a community.  PMI should take on some Project Management philosophies when dealing with people.  I put this here because there isn't an option to make suggestions.  I guess they are perfect.

Amy -

I'd recommend contacting PMI Customer Care as a medical emergency should be a valid case for an exemption to their standard policies.

As PMI contracts with Pearson Vue for exam delivery, it is possible that they are just passing along costs from Pearson Vue to folks who need to reschedule.

Hello Amy - and welcome to PMIs Online Community! I am sorry for your current situation and wish you all the best during this difficult time. As Kiron mentioned, please do contact PMI Customer Care as soon as possible. PMI understands that there are times when personal emergencies may cause you to reschedule or cancel your exam within 30 days of the appointment. You can refer to the 'Extenuating Circumstances' section in the CAPM® Certification Handbook, as a medical emergency is one those circumstances.

If your circumstance forces you to reschedule or cancel your exam within 30 days of the appointment, go online to PMI's certification system as soon as you know you are unable to make your scheduled appointment and reschedule or cancel your exam. You will be charged the US$70 fee; however, you can contact PMI Customer Care with an explanation and supporting documents (e.g., accident report, medical documentation, etc.) to obtain a refund on the late rescheduling/cancellation fee, if approved by PMI. I sincerely hope this helps and wish you a full recovery!
