Like quality, sustainability is often sacrificed at the altar of delivering something quicker or cheaper. If the organization surrounding the project is not supportive of a true balance between different priorities, it will always be given lip service.

While the aim is to manage projects in a way that minimizes environmental impact and contributes positively to society, it's crucial to acknowledge that the nature of the project itself plays a significant role. As a project manager, you may not always have direct control over the inherent characteristics or objectives of the project. If the nature of the project aligns inherently with sustainability goals, such as renewable energy infrastructure development or environmental conservation initiatives, integrating sustainability into project management practices becomes more straightforward. However, if the project's nature involves activities with inherently high environmental impact or conflicting societal interests, such as large-scale construction or resource extraction projects, navigating sustainability concerns can be more challenging and may require innovative approaches to mitigate adverse effects.
