Training as a PMI ATP Trainer and using their V3.2 materials

This topic is for anyone who is a PMI ATP trainer and uses their materials, but the students get a printed book or electronic .pdf.  Here is my ache!  The book and electronic copy are useless since they show the instructor slide in the left corner, and it is TINY.  They put in blanks lines for the student to enter their thoughts. But since they cannot read the slide, in being too small, you are basically reading the slide content, for them to write in the blank spaces, so they can study later using the materials.  I have complained to PMI, I had students complain to PMI, is there anyone else training the PMP exam using the ATP materials?

Mary -

Not a good answer for you, but the low quality of the third-party created PMI materials for PMP prep was a contributing factor to our leaving the ATP program after a year and resuming our relationship with Velociteach and using their vastly superior product.

With the utmost due respect, I have not heard from PMI. This has happened the other six times that someone said they would coordinate with them to reach out to me. I just completed another ATP Trainer session using the ATP PMP materials and students were extremely not pleased with the small slide display, whether in the electronic book and of course, the printed book displays the same way. We found grammatical errors, misspelled words and I had to tell them, through the entire five-day class, what to write out from each slide, for exam study importance. This had to be done on every slide, simply because it too small is to see in their materials. This absorbs easily 8 hours in the realm of the training.

I have tried six prior times to talk with ATP Support, with someone telling me that someone will contact me in your request.

I am not allowing my training evaluations being lowered due to this misinformation and display of their training materials.

I cannot believe that I am the only ATP Trainer that faces these challenges due to the ATP Support in lack of communication and timely support to ATP trainer feedback.

It starts to become a money making machine and this after almost being a member of PMI for 30 years !!!! Their useless material to use, become ATP and pay for it, additional course syllabi to pay for every participant, print your own certificate on a format that is different for Europe than US, ........ What is the benefit still of supporting PMI ?

And now PMI wants that the only way to get your 35 hours of education for submitting your file for the PMP exam should be obtained only by an ATP partner ! This sounds like a money making machine while they become big because of our voluntary participation. For years we have trained (as a REP) people to pass their CAPM or PMP exam. Now, it will not be possible unless you become an ATP (and pay thousand of dollars) and you have to use their worthless syllabi where you have to pay again for it. I wrote them:
I understand the importance of global consistency, quality assurance, and learner protection. These are valid objectives, and I fully support the idea that PMP candidates should receive training that is aligned with the latest standards and the Exam Content Outline.
uHowever/u, none of these arguments explain why long‑standing, high‑quality training centers with decades of proven results are excluded from being recognized unless they join the ATP program. Quality assurance and global alignment do not require the exclusion of experienced providers who have demonstrated excellence for more than 25 years! And we will not be the only one!
Our organization has consistently delivered high‑quality PMP preparation, with strong success rates and a long history of supporting the project management community in Belgium. This track record is verifiable and fully aligned with PMI’s mission. The fact that this experience is no longer considered valid evidence—solely because we are not part of the ATP program—creates the impression that financial participation has become the determining factor, rather than demonstrated quality.
I am not questioning the value of the ATP framework. I am questioning why it must be the only pathway, especially when it excludes providers who have contributed significantly to PMI’s growth and reputation for decades. WHY ???
My request is simple: How can PMI ensure global consistency and learner protection without disregarding the proven quality and long-term contribution of established training centers? There must be a model that allows both: a standardized ATP pathway and recognition of experienced, reputable providers who meet the same quality expectations.
After 27 years of continuous membership, I find it difficult to reconcile PMI’s stated values with a system that excludes organizations like ours despite our long-standing commitment to the profession.
I would appreciate a more concrete explanation of why demonstrated excellence and historical contribution cannot be part of the recognition model.
Still waiting for their answer as PMI really want to have a monopoly position in this. Please comment my dear training colleagues what you think of this?
